![]() Much like the plot, the differences here are, in a sense, cosmetic. Tip seems destined to have his own group of companions as he too journies to Oz to discover his future. That inherently gives him a darker, more tragic angle that looms over him no matter what he does. However Tip does have a stronger, more compelling background, as he's not a stranger in a strange land but a boy running away from what amounted to slavery. Tip is very much like Dorothy in that he is essentially, at this point, a vehicle to drive the storyline to different locales and fantastical characters. However this story does have the advantage of introducing the reader to a far more fantastical setting than its predecessor did in its opening moments. All in all, the plot in this first installment is merely setting the stage for a larger adventure. ![]() ![]() Along the way we meet Jack Pumpkinhead and get a quick rundown on where some of Oz's more infamous members have found themselves in the time between Dorothy's stay and Tip's escapades. The first issue of Marvelous opens detailing Tip's unfortunate circumstances, and the bulk of this chapter sets the stage for this young lad's adventure. In place of a young girl and her small dog we find a boy by the name of Tip. ![]()
